Sometimes I Wish.

Sometimes I wish...
I wish that I could understand people
& why they do the things that they do.
I wish I could understand what their thought process
is when they're doing the things that
they do.
I wonder if they realize the affect they have on
the people around them.
I wish I could understand more.
Or simply,
I wish people were more open?
I feel like I am a pretty open person,
& if you're close to me,
I will hold nothing back.
I guess I wish the people that I consider
myself to be close to, would do the same.
I want to be a good friend & help others.
But because of my lack of understanding..
I feel like I can't.
& I hate that feeling..
A lot.

I wish for a lot of things.
But in the end, I just want to be a good friend to everyone.
I love you all.
& appreciate all of the friends that I have in my life :)
You are all awesome.

Meet Simba :)

Is it April yet?

With Love,
Me :)

..and I'm feeling good.

Hello loves,
This week has been insane.
I have been doing homework for what seems like
forever.
I decided to NOT procrastinate & it's really helping.
Yesterday I finished a 4 page paper that's not due until
Feb. 6th.
That feels so nice :)
The only thing that stinks is,
even though I get ALL of this stuff done,
there's still SO much to do! :P
So I have a feeling of accomplishment,
but I still feel like i'm behind.
College is great.

Some things about my week:

It snowed. A lot.

But even though it was snowy, gloomy, and cold,
I still thoroughly  enjoy my morning walks/hikes to class.

My hair was completely ruined by my 3rd class though.

Let's just talk about this picture.
In one of our buildings here on Campus, there's a greenhouse.
& it's amazing. Except...
the humidity loves to ruin my hair for pictures.
But this is a picture of me and my roommates.
From top left to right.
Nicole (19. Vegas) Me. Amanda (18. Pocatello) Kayla (19. Dallas)
(bottom left) Megan (19. Vegas.) Kim (20. Dallas)
My roommates are pretty great.
& yes, i'm the oldy of the apartment.
(more pictures to come!)

Alright, so I sit in the Crossroads of the MC during my hour break on
Monday, Wednesdays, and Friday.
& this kid.. in the white was here on Wednesdays & I wanted to slap him. Bad.
He sat here for 45minutes and complained about the following:
* How he is so 'above' writing a 1PAGE paper on a dumb topic
* How he knows more than his teachers do.
*How he thinks its dumb that you have to take foundation classes.
*How he thinks the 'honor code' is ridiculous. He wants to wear shorts. (dude, its snowing)
*How all the girls here are dumb, because the ones he wants won't go for him.
*How the project he was working with this group is ridiculous, he could easily do it alone.
Basically it went on forever. This kid needs a Happy Meal or something!

PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!!
My dad called me yesterday and said that he was getting a new puppy :)
One of these little york-mix babies is ours!
I couldn't be happier.
My dad said the one they picked is 1 1/2lbs and fits in his palm!
awww :)

I can't wait to see which one of these cuties is ours :)

My little nephew Daxton had to go back to the hospital yesterday :(
He's doing alright though. He gets to go home tonight.
How cute is he? Seriously?
Love.

And lastly,

I'm loving Instagram! I never really knew what it was.
& finally, after realizing just how many people use it,
I decided to try it out.
Most of the pictures on here are from Instagram.
It's the cool thing to do ;)

Well there's another update in the life of Courtney.
Life is pretty good.
We all may get frustrated, annoyed, upset, and go crazy sometimes.
But life really is good.
"Every day might not be good. But there's good in every day."

With Love,
Me :)

The Power.

I am so incredibly grateful for the power of the priesthood.
I am grateful for the worthy priesthood holders in my life.
The men who can and are willing to come over at any moment,
to give me or my friends or family a blessing.
I love this church.
I know it to be true.

Elder L. Tom Perry was the speaker at devotional today & it was amazing.
It was amazing to see 16,000 student stand when he came in.
He is an amazing man.

Life is good.

Can we talk about how cute this picture is?
My step-brother Chase & his baby boy :)
What a proud daddy!

I love this family :)

Love you all.
With Love,
Me :)

Babies, food, & neighbors :)

Hello Blogland!

It has been another lovely week here in Rexburg... lovely? Let's try that again.
It have been another stressful & cold week here in Rexburg & I'm trying to stay positive!

Yup, much better!
It finally snowed today & people are freaking out. It's kind of humorous. Student were sliding everywhere today, both in their cars and on their feet.

My classes are going really well. I still have A's in all of them, which is a VERY good thing.
I'm meeting lots of new people & my roommates are pretty great.

I also  had a taco night in IF with my lovely friends, Karly, Wade, Julie, Hada & Nathan. Let's just say... it was amazing. I've missed them SO MUCH!

Wanna know something that's REALLY exciting??

I'M GOING BACK TO NORTH CAROLINAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
top 5 reasons why i'm so stoked:
1. I get to see Lauren Mary Morrison AKA Bunny Begard AKA The best friend
2. I get to see the beach again with the before mentioned best friend :)
3. I get to be in warm weather, beautiful weather.
4. I get to see my best friend.
5. My best friend is beautiful! Did you know that?

Yes, we will be reunited again :)

She's a pretty great person. She's so strong. And beautiful. & she deserves the world. Did I mention how she's basically living the dream right now? Over a year ago she picked up and moved across the country. Something.. that I could never do. Look at her go. I'm so grateful that I get the chance to go to her beloved home for the 2nd time. & i'm glad she'll have me :) It's going to be a blast.
Cookout - Beach - Pillow talk - doughnuts - movies. I can't wait :)
My best friend is amazing.

Other than that amazing news.
I received some other great news.
I AM AN AUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To this beautiful baby boy :)

Daxton James Shumway
6lbs 11oz
 He is so handsome.
Sunday morning my step brother and his wife had this little bundle of joy :)
& I can't wait to meet him in person!

& once again, here's the rest of my week via pictures :)

I woke up to these Sunday morning... My roommate Nicole is the best :)

I tried the salon effect nail sticker things.. they're pretty cool.
But if you're a "picker" I don't suggest them.

I got dressed up for some pictures :)

Jon, my love, helped out at our photo-shoot with Tyler.
He is amazing :)

I saw this and loved it :)

I spent literally 7 hours doing homework on Thursday....

Last night my roommates and I decided to have a late night. It was amazing. We sang all night long, danced, and baked. And then we saw our manager's assistants walking up our stairs. We shut off all the lights and hid.... they stood there for 10 minutes! There were so many snorts going on, it was amazing. They eventually left, and we continued baking, then ANOTHER girl came to our door (mind you, it was 3:00am) My roommate, Kim, answered the door in just her under ware and a t-shirt, this girl gave us a letter and some pop rocks.. she was from the apartment below us. Their letter to us is on the left... we wrote them one back (on the right)

It will definitely be a night to remember.

Here's to another week!
With Love,
Me :)
PS. Congrats to my friend Elise on her engagement :)

Idealism.

Alright people,
My mind was blown last week in my ED200 class
with our discussion on Idealism.
Now,  a lot of information was given to us,
so i'm going to do my best to portray all of it on here for you!
It's seriously so amazing.

Idealism is Mind over Matter.. but to the extreme.
My professor started the lecture by asking why we hadn't asked about her dog she brought to class that day
(there was no dog)
"I brought my dog Milo for you guys today & you aren't even acknowledging him, thats rude"
With a few giggles & confused faces, she asks us why we are laughing.
I raise my hand and say, "Well, there's no dog here."
She continued to argue with us that there was a dog there.
Then she tells this girl Stacey to call for Milo & then pet him.
She does and pretends to pet the dog.

Now, what was this about? Idealistic people truly live their lives this way! They believe that if you think it, its there. Some of them believe that its really 60 degrees outside when really its only 13. But because they believe it, it's there.
Another aspect of this is, idealistic people CHOOSE everything that happens to them. Now, i'm not saying the you chose to get in that car wreck... but you chose everything that led up to it, which ultimately means, you chose for this to happen. Idealistic people go through a ton of guilt because of this.

Now a more realist point of view. Idealistic people basically just create their own world, and they're constantly in it.
SCENARIO:
Girl sitting on the right side of the classroom. By the clock.
Boy sitting on the opposite side of the room, by the window.
Boy is tired and wants to leave class, he checks the time on the clock.
Girl notices boy looking her way. " He just looked at me!"
Boy... still impatient, looks at the clock again, and again, and again, and again and again.
Girl "This boy has looked at me 5 times in one hour... he probably likes me"
Girl goes home and tells her roommates about this boy in her class who wouldn't stop looking at her & he has a crush on her.

This girl just created an aspect in her own world. This is an idealistic trait, that MANY girls and guys do. We create these relationships and scenes in our head, when in the tangible world, nothing has really happened.

This is just a little bit of what I learned, but I was just amazed by it all! Yesterday we learned about Realism and that is also cool. But I won't bore you with that :)
If you're still reading, brava!

Other than that craziness, my week has been great!

The roommate. Amanda & I did facials. Her's was burning her face.. mine was quite soothing :)

I ran into this crazy person, who stole my phone & took pictures on it :)

Jon & I shared a very tender moment at Subway :)

Julie Magana sent me this picture of my baby boy and it said "miss you!" Did I cry? yes. Love this boy.

& this is my sad face because I might die today from frost bite. Dang wind.

With Love,
Me :)
